Preparing for Deepavali

Deepavali is one of my favorite festivals.   Every year I look forward to it.  This year I have not started preparing at all.  No sweets or savories have been prepared.  For that matter I haven't even decided What I will be making.  Festival is just a couple of days away.

Today I took out some of the decorations out.  Still a lot more to do.

At the landing,  I just worked on a small arrangement.

I hope you are as excited for Deepavali as I am.

I will do a more detailed post next week.

Navaratri 2013

Every year I look forward to Navaratri.

Excitement of opening up the doll collection and thinking of the arrangements is a preoccupation before Navaratri comes around.  There is a tradition of adding a new doll every year.  You may as "why?"  Olden days they were mud or clay dolls and each year one would have a causality of one or more dolls.   You would not place damaged dolls in display.  Our ancestors were smart.  Weren't they?

Welcome our Gombe display of 2013.

This was in the foyer area to extend a warm welcome to our guests.  As my kids are grown up, there isn't much driving them around to different activities anymore.  I meet some folks every year only during Navaratri.  I look forward to that.

Here is a glimpse of my display this year:

So folks I do hope you had a wonderful Navaratri as I did.  Do post your comments.  I love hearing from you.
